Our Pastor – Welcome Pastor David

July 2023

Pastor David Eckert, originally from Connecticut, discovered his calling to ministry while attending Calvary UMC in West Philadelphia. He received his theological education from Emory University in Atlanta and was commissioned as an Elder in 2000. He has served appointments at Conshohocken, Drexel Hill, Germantown First, and Lafayette Hill: Messiah. He also serves with the EPA Urban Commission and the Immigration Law and Justice Network.

Pastor David is married to Amy, a speech language pathologist in the Philadelphia Schools, and they have two young adult sons. He enjoys hiking, American History, music, and Philadelphia sports. 

Our Office Manager – Darlene McCormack

June 2023

Darlene, originally from Philadelphia and now from Coatesville, joined Marshallton in 2021 as our Assistant to the Treasurer and QuickBooks Online Specialist at the request of former Pastor Steven Handzel. She had previously worked at Olivet UMC in Coatesville as their Office Manager and Steve knew she was up to the task. She also helped out as Beth’s assistant when they went on vacations. Once the Handzel’s retired (June 2023), Darlene applied to stay on and replace Beth as our new Office Manager. 

Darlene is married to Cregg, a Senior Technical Consultant, and they have 2 adult children Matthew & Melissa. Darlene is an avid Quilter & Knitter. The family loves all things Philly! Go Eagles!  

Our Youth Director – Sarah Billings

2018

Sarah, MSW, LSW, graduated from Marshallton’s Youth Fellowship in ’06. A longstanding member of the MUMC family, she’s been deeply involved since childhood and now directs the Youth Group, a role she’s held since 2018. Previously, Sarah lent her time to the youth program, helping organize service and exchange trips. Currently, she sits on the Site Committee of Pocono Plateau, the Eastern PA United Methodist Camp where she both attended and worked. Sarah earned her Bachelor’s and Master’s in social work from Millersville University and now focuses on preventing youth homelessness at a national organization.

Our Organist / Director of Music – Dr. Sandra Mather

Sandie is a professor emerita in the Department of Earth and Space Sciences at West Chester University.  She is the author of numerous books about Summit County, Colorado.  In addition to her responsibilities as organist and choir director, she is the chief-of-staff for Alexis, the most-pampered cat in southern Chester County.  Sandie loves to bake and satisfy the sweet tooth of the choir and congregation.
